Red Grooms

Born Charles Rogers Grooms in Nashville, Tennessee, Red Grooms is a Pop artist who wore many hats. Grooms studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in 1957 took a summer course at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts. Soon after he opened a gallery where he exhibited now famous Pop artists, including Claes Oldenburg and Jim Dine. In addition to being a gallery owner Grooms was also a filmmaker, sculptor, installation artist, and printmaker. In all of these mediums, Grooms often exhibited the bustling life of Chicago and New York City. Grooms resides in New York City.
